The dream of St.Louis Marie de Montfort gave birth to the idea of a new society to procure and protect the needs of the lowliest and the least. With this vision in mind, our headmaster and community are toiling towards the realization of our patron saint’s vision.
Montfort High School, Alandur, is an institution that is striving towards enlightening thousands of lives by its service through the dissemination of knowledge.
Responding to the invitation of the Arch-Bishop of Madras-Mylapore on February 26th and 27th 1983, this temple of learning began to shine forth; it started making use of the campus vacated by the Montfort Technical Institute, and started imparting the best of education possible in all its dimensions.
From 1983-87, Bro.P.K.Jose, the first Superior and Headmaster faced the challenges that every infant goes through. With 43 students and two teachers, he succeeded in placing a state recognized Tamil medium high school on solid ground. The motto of the school is ‘Serve with Love.’ We thankfully remember Bro.P.K.Jose and his successful service.
From 1987 to 1990, Bro.V.M.George Vazhayil was Superior and Headmaster.His enthusiasm and hard work rewarded him with 98% public exam results.
From 1990 to 1993, Bro. Zacharias Joseph was Superior and Headmaster. He succeeded in getting two Secondary Grade teaching posts.
From 4993 to 1996, Bro.V.L. Thomas was Superior and Headmaster. He brought name and fame to this school by modifying the science laboratory, the library, the staff room and succeeded in getting permanent recognition.
From 1996 to 1999 and 2002-2003, Bro.M.K. Joseph was Superior and Headmaster. He successfully introduced computer education. The 25 years of his religious service was celebrated in this institution. In 2003, Bro.M. P.Joseph took over, but unfortunately he died of cardiac arrest and the whole Montfort family mourned and pleaded God Almighty to give him eternal joy.
From 1999 to 2002 Bro. Sebastian Joseph was Superior and Headmaster. He encouraged skilled players in games by giving them higher education through various Montfort institutions.
In June 2003, this institution became part of the Trichy Region of the Province.
In 2003, Bro.Thimotheyu became Superior and Headmaster. He paid more attention to the studies of the students. In 2004 girls were given the golden opportunity to join our institution.
From 2006 to 2008, Bro.Arockia Raj was Superior and Headmaster. Every child was given opportunity to bring out their capabilities and talents. Brother’s Silver Jubilee was celebrated in this institution in a grand manner. In 2007, our school’s Silver Jubilee was celebrated with grand success. We thankfully remember all the Brothers of this institution for their successful animation as Headmasters.
From 2008 to 2014, Bro.A. Thomas Selvam was Superior and Headmaster. The service of this Headmaster was multiple. He was the founder of the parallel medium;a long dream of ours was fulfilled by him.
The poorest of the poor are given first priority in all possible ways. To meet the students’ need, a three storey additional building with classrooms and open hall wasbuilt. From the year 2012 on wards, our school functions as a higher Secondary school.

From 2014 to 2019, under Rev. Bro.Jesuraj’s leadership as Superior and Headmaster, the school saw remarkable growth. CCTV cameras were installed for security, rainwater harvesting and a new drinking water facility were introduced, and classrooms were renovated. The introduction of English medium for the 11th grade expanded academic opportunities. These initiatives, combined with enhanced infrastructure, contributed to the school’s growth, increasing the total student strength to 994 by 2019. Rev. Bro. Jesuraj’s vision greatly improved the learning environment and strengthened the school’s commitment to excellence and sustainability.
From 2019 to 2020, under the leadership of Rev. Bro. M. Joseph Antony Balan as Superior and Headmaster, the school continued its growth, with student strength increasing to 1,010.However, the academic year was significantly impacted by the onset of the COVID-19pandemic. Due to the pandemic, public exams were not conducted, leading to unprecedented challenges in education. Despite these difficulties, Rev. Bro. M. Joseph Antony Balan ensured the safety and well-being of students, adapting to the situation and maintaining the school’s commitment to education amidst global uncertainties. His leadership helped the school navigate a difficult year with resilience.
From 2020 to 2023, Rev. Bro. M. Anandham served as Superior and Headmaster, leading the school through the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the lock down, he initiated online classes to ensure that students’ education continued uninterrupted. Understanding the financial strain on families, he reduced school fees by 50%, while ensuring teachers received their full salaries, reflecting his commitment to both education and staff welfare.
In addition to his focus on academics, Rev. Bro. M.Anandhamalso promoted environmental awareness by organizing tree-planting initiatives, enhancing the campus’s green cover. He also laid the foundation stone for a new school building, setting the stage for future development.
His leadership extended beyond the school, as he provided various services to the community, students, and parents during the pandemic, offering support in a time of need. Rev. Bro. M.Anandham’s efforts ensured that the school not only survived the pandemic but also thrived, staying true to its mission of serving students and society.
Since 2023, Rev. Bro. M. Alexander, as Superior and Headmaster, has brought about numerous positive changes in the school. He inaugurated a new building, enhancing the campus infrastructure, and installed 44 CCTV cameras for improved security. The office room was renovated, and new facilities such as four labs, a library, and RO water systems were introduced to benefit students and staff. For safety, grills were added to all porticos.
Rev. Bro. M.Alexander also prioritized staff welfare with salary increments and organized school tours, enhancing student exposure. He ensured that special celebrations like Children’s Day were memorable, by providing meals for the students. His leadership extended beyond infrastructure, fostering a strong rapport between parents and management, creating a supportive and inclusive environment. His focus on children’s benefits, both academically and personally, has significantly contributed to their holistic development.
Our school has been granted the status of an examination center for the Government Public Exams for Classes X, XI, and XII. This significant achievement has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of our Principal, Rev.Bro.M. Alexander.
In the academic year 2024–2025, our students of Classes XI and XII have achieved excellent results. We are proud to share that several students secured centum in their subjects, and many others scored high marks, bringing honour to our school. We appreciate the hard work of our students and the dedicated efforts of our teachers who guided them throughout the year.
In the academic year 2025–2026, we introduced a new section in Class XI for the benefit of our students, enabling more admissions and ensuring better learning opportunities.
