MONTFORT MATRIC HR. SEC. SCHOOL, ST. THOMAS MOUNT

The Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel established Montfort Matriculation Higher Secondary School on 10th June 2002, under the Province of Yercaud. Rev. Bro. Lawrence Gabriel, Director & Local Superior of the technical school, was the guiding star of this new venture, which was led by the first Principal & Correspondent, Rev. Bro. George Vazhayil. Beginning with 800 students, the school witnessed remarkable growth, reaching 1600 students by 2005–2006; currently we have over 3301 students from LKG to Std XII.

To impart holistic education through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities: to develop confidence and competence inyoung citizens who will be ready to face all challenges in life.

To mould responsible, diligent, and compassionate citizens;to ensure meaningful inclusion and partnership in regard to the differently-abled.

INFRASTRUCTURE & ACADEMIC EXPANSION

Multiple academic blocks constructed in the period2003–2006, including Computer Lab, Science Labs & Audio-Visual Room.

Upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 2009–2010.

Commerce Stream introduced in 2014–2015 and Pure Science Stream in 2015–2016.

In order to foster academic growth and inclusion ofall categories of students, the NIOS (National Institute of Open School) stream was started.In 2014 we procured the Accreditation to Secondary Level.

A new school wing with classrooms and an auditorium-cum-indoor stadiumwas inaugurated in 2016.

The open ground in the middle was upgraded to natural turf in 2017–2018.

Among all the Montfort Schools ofIndia, ours was the first to install a 200m International Standard Synthetic Athletic Track (2020–2021).

A Monumental Diamond Jubilee Entrance Arch,majestic looking and symbolic,was added in 2022–2023 to mark 60 years of Montfortian presence at St. Thomas Mount.

In 2023, the NIOS Department was upgraded and secured the Senior Secondary Accreditation.

ACADEMIC ACHEIVEMENTS:

The school has consistently delivered outstanding results in the SSLC, HSC and NIOS Board Examinations, with numerous students achieving centum in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Business Mathematics, Accountancy and French.

We continue to strive for progressive academic excellence and exemplary performance.

GREEN SCHOOL INITIATIVES

A Recycle plant for water reuse & campus sustainability has been installed.

A 62 KVA Solar Power System ensures uninterrupted power supply.

Healthy lifestyle advocacy — No junk food / aerated drinks.

We were awarded ‘Green School’ Certification for 2023–2024 & 2024–2025 by the Centre for Environment and Science, New Delhi – an NGO funded by the Central Government.

LEADERSHIP & FUTURE PATH

2002 to 2011 – Rev. Bro.George Vazhayil, Principal & Correspondent.

In 2011 Rev. Bro. K. M. Thomas & Rev. Bro. Arul Deeparaj took charge of the school as Correspondent and Principal respectively.

In 2013 there was a progressive change in management with Rev. Bro. K. K. Thomas as the Principal & Correspondent of the school and Director & Local Superior of the Community.

In 2019, the Community and institution had a shift in Province from Yercaud to Bengaluru,the latter having been newly formed.

In 2022, a seamless transition in management took place under the guidance of Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier as the Principal & Correspondent of the School and Director & Local Superior of the Community; Rev. Bro. Sebastian Antonysamy became the Vice Principal & Bursar.

Today, under the dynamic guidance of Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier A., Principal & Correspondent –and Rev. Bro. Pakiyanathan, Vice Principal &Bursar – the school continues its mission of academic excellence, inclusive education, sports leadership and moral growth.

MGA AT MONTFORT ST. THOMAS MOUNT

MGA – Montfort Gabrielite Association at Montfort, St.Thomas Mount, was started in 2011 and thereafter was consistent in prayer and pious activities.

We the MGA members are very proud to say that with efficient and prayerful leadership of the Brothers, our School has been very active from day one until now, meeting frequently for Holy Mass, Intercessory Prayers, Way of the Cross, Lenten Pilgrimage, Visiting and contributing  to old age homes, orphanages, etc.
